The importance and impacts of the relationship between law and technology

How to relate Law and technology? It is a pertinent question, after all when we speak the word “Right” we soon send a thought of something classic, with more traditional matrices. On the other hand, the word “technology” takes an idea of modernity, advances, future.

Law, as a legal science, was born in an already outdated way, in the sense that it always solved the longings that society already lived. That is, there is no way to present a solution to a future situation. However, with the help of new technologies created over the years, it gradually managed to modernize itself, create new work areas and provide the court with a better solution to the cases in dispute.

And that’s what I’m going to talk about in today’s text! After all, there are innumerable possibilities created from the union between law and technology. (I.e.

Law and technology: union that improves legal activity

Although in slow steps, we have to admit that little by little Law and technology are getting closer. This union already assists the legal activities of any legal operator, be they lawyers, judges, prosecutors, delegates, etc.

Just over 30 years ago, even common technologies for us, such as a computer or the Internet, were difficult to access. There were few opportunities for a middle-class citizen to take advantage of their use. However, improved development now enables almost anyone to enjoy it.

And it also allows the union between Law and technology, as in the following examples:

1. Electronic processes

Evolving a little more, in the Judiciary, we came out of the era of physical processes, where thousands of sheets were printed for each petition to be made. We entered the stage of the electronic judicial process, regulated by Law 11,419 of December 19, 2006.

Now it is possible to access, consult and even request from anywhere in the country. It is no longer necessary to go to the Forum with two printed copies of the petition, generating time savings and sustainability.

2. Information searches

In addition, other technologies also automate the work. Such as the Bacenjud, Renajud, Infoseg and Infojud systems. All agreed to the Judiciary to assist in the search of bank information, vehicle ownership and / or information in the IRS about a particular person.

3. Using smartphones

Other advances in the union of law and technology that also facilitate our routines is the increasing use of applications in smartphones. Being a good example is Whatsapp, widely known by the public. To give you an idea, the resource has already been used even for remote audience achievements, with one party residing outside of Brazil.

4. Use of legal software

In other bias, for more managerial and administrative issues within an Office of Advocacy, for example, why not cite the virtual agendas or legal software. They are tools that help in the tasks of the professional, be it in the control of processes and deadlines, meeting, financial management or day to day tasks.
